I'm Amanda! Nice to meet you!

I'm a 20-something programmer from Pennsylvania. I've been coding since childhood, ever since I got hooked on creating MUDs at 12. Anything from crappy personal sites to high traffic commercial projects, I've had the opportunity to work on many different projects in the last decade or so. I also absolutely love playing around with my server. Querying databases, installing new builds, SSL certificates, vim. Basically anything I can get to through a terminal makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

I'm currently a senior at Penn State University majoring in Information Sciences & Technology with a focus on Digital Art. My courses are awesome and I love learning more about art and design (even though I'm still pretty bad at it). Though moving to California to work as a software engineer has complicated things a bit I am slated to graduate next May! ::confetti::

A year ago I packed up my car and made a pilgramage to the Silicon Valley. My goal was to learn all about this elusive thing we call the Interwebz, something that turns out to be an endless quest. So far I have learned that digging my car out from 3 feet of snow is stupid and I refuse to ever do it again, a lot of other 20-somethings make similar journeys, and sleep is more or less optional.

After spending a year working for a parenting website I got kind of sick of coloring sheets and potty training advice. As a result I applied for Google Summer of Code and am happy to say I was accepted. I'll be spending this summer blogging on things that interest me and working with the Inclusive Design Institute on an accessible image editor.

For me this website serves as a creative outlet. Sometimes it's bad, sometimes it's good. Sometimes it gets randomly deleted. This has been a work in progress for over a decade and will very likely remain that way until the end of time. Thanks for humoring me.
